Our Task
Where Rock & Roll was born!
For decades, Sun Records has been revered as the birthplace of American Rock and Roll. Under the leadership of founder Sam Phillips, Sun Records was responsible for some of the very first recordings of now legendary musicians. We were approached to redesign Sun Records’ website after the company began a comprehensive overhaul of their image and mission. The iconic label wanted to tell the story of not just their history, but their ongoing commitment to embodying the spirit of Rock and Roll. Our goal was to deliver a design that seamlessly combined Sun Records’ timeless aesthetic, steeped in Americana, with modern user engagement and sleek interfaces. The company had also recently begun a massive effort to digitize their vast library of recordings that only existed on physical media. Many of these recordings had never been heard by most modern audiences, and were highly sought after by die-hard fans. Our approach involved creating a hub where these newly digitized recordings could be showcased with direct links to stream and purchase, allowing fans to access previously unseen corners of Rock and Roll history, and further their connection with Sun Records.
The Result
The results of our redesign have provided a platform for Sun Records to showcase their legacy as well as their ongoing influence on the American music experience. A timeline featured on the site now provides an access point for both nostalgia and education, with iconic moments in the history of Sun Records and their featured artists represented in a concise, accessible format. Our design also focused on adding a featured news section, which stands as a testament to the ways in which generation after generation continue to become facsinated with the ongoing legacy of Sun Records, where Rock and Roll was born! We are honored to be an ongoing partner in the upkeep of sunrecords.com and its mission to both preserve and redefine what it means to love Rock and Roll.
