Going strong for 10 years, The M3 Rock Festival is a celebration of the days of decadence and glamour attended by people who lived it and their children who remember hearing about this cultural movement. Annually, heavy, hair and metal glam bands gather for this multi-day event, rewinding/turning back the clock to the 1980’s. For the second year now the Southern Rock Classic has become part of this 3 day epic event.

2018 Festival Logo & Admat
When we began our work with M3, our first task was to develop the 10th year anniversary logo and admat to establish the theme for this years branding. The intention was to breath life into the festivals brand while not straying too far away from the previous years designs. After incorporating the festivals iconic logo with familiar skull imagery, we introduced forest elements as a nod to the Merriweather Post Pavilion’s location in beautiful Columbia, Maryland and home to the M3 Rockfest since it’s infancy.
No rock festival is “official” without some kick a** swag! Using the admat design as our blueprint, we developed a series of shirt designs to occupy the official 2018 merchandise lineup. We then finalized the digital branding efforts with social media skins across Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
Our final and arguably most vital branding effort was the complete re-design and development of M3 Rock Festival’s official website. To ensure the brand’s synergy with physical media and digital platforms, we made it a necessary objective to build the website solely around the design aesthetic of the official admat. This required us to prioritize more complex design elements which most common ignore. However, our innovative development team lead by Bastiaan Ekeler stepped up to provide solutions for optimized code with no sacrifice to design details.
